TIME MANAGEMENT

For most students, starting college means moving out of home and becoming independent. It is really the beginning of “adulting!” and this is why managing your time is one of the most important skills a college student has to learn. College life places several demands on students. There are several commitments [and distractions] competing for your time. This is why it is important to become intentional about how you use your 24hr day, making use of plans and schedules to allow enough time for studying, errands, chores and fun!

stress management

Everyone needs a healthy amount of stress. Healthy stress helps human beings solve problems, complete difficult tasks and ultimately achieve their goals and ambitions. Students, however, can often find themselves overwhelmed by all the demands college life places on them. Managing lectures, assessments, finances and relationships can often require more physical, mental and emotional resources than a student has available. This often leads to what experts call "burn out!" Despite the challenges, stress is manageable. Check out the stress management tips below!

If you find yourself struggling to cope with the demands of everyday life and stress and anxiety are interfering with with your functioning please visit the Student Support Services Office for one-on-one assistance.

TEST TAKING TIPS

Passing a test takes more than studying and practice. A student needs to develop skills to tackle an examination paper. Often bad habits and carelessness cost students a lot of marks in a test or exam. See some valuable test taking strategies below!
